After being spurned by Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, the Chicago Bulls turned to Carlos Boozer (number 8 on the Big Board) with a 5 year, $80 million contract. Boozer will now join forces with Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah as the basis for a formidable attack, while Chicago still maintains enough financial flexibility to sign another player. Like, say, Lebron James. Boozer is a tricky guy to figure out. He's a serious banger on offense with ridiculous strength and deadly range out to 18 feet. He's also a very good rebounder. On the flip side of that, he's a poor defender who doesn't really seem to put much effort into that side of the game. He's also someone who you don't ever depend on for big plays or clutch moments. Still, he's a great fit in Chicago and gives them the first legitimate, consistent offensive threat they've had in the Derrick Rose era and he will take a significant amount of pressure off of the young point guard. If new Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau can get Boozer to buy in defensively, this could be a real contender. He's definitely getting overpaid here compared to what he actually does for a team but he was going to get overpaid somewhere, it might as well be for a team he fits in with. I also think Utah isn't that sorry to see him go, especially at this price, as his replacement, Paul Millsap, is a more well-rounded player at half the cost.
