Ryan Gomes Headed to the Clippers

After being traded from Minnesota to Portland on draft day and later being cut by Portland, Ryan Gomes (number 40 on the Big Board) signed a 3 year, $12 million contract with the Los Angeles Clippers. I never want to praise the Clippers if possible but this is a very smart, under the radar move. Gomes is a very nice role player who can easily put up 12 points and 5 rebounds while shooting a solid percentage and never straying from his role. He will be a great spot-starter type of guy to take that small forward spot until Al Farouq-Aminu (the Clippers first round pick) is ready to step in. This is an even better move considering the money. When Travis Outlaw and Amir Johnson are getting $7 mil a year, picking up Gomes for $4 mil is a great signing. If Blake Griffin is what everyone thinks he will be, the Clippers could actually...well, if they weren't the Clippers they could actually be a playoff contending team. Since they are the Clippers, though, this will surely crash and burn.
